Stephen Lee, MBA, CFA

Stephen Lee, the founder of IIYGroup, has been an active professional in the financial services industry since 1997. After college, Stephen started his career doing fund accounting work on equities, fixed-income, and money market funds at mutual fund companies. He worked his way to strategy implementation and trading at a boutique investment firm that specializes in systematic alternative approaches to global macro investing . At his last job, he did research and portfolio construction/implementation at a fundamental indexing and asset allocation firm. His unique financial work experience with different roles and at different investment companies led him to start IIYGroup to help people invest.

Stephen holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter and is a member of CFA Institute and CFA Society Orange County. The CFA charter is a globally respected, graduate-level investment credential established in 1962 and awarded by CFA Institute - the largest global association of investment professionals. Stephen earned a Bachelor degree from University of California, Riverside and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

In the 1970s, Stephen’s parents decided to leave Vietnam during the war and fortunately made it out to Hong Kong, where they were refugees. His family was eventually sponsored to come to the United States by a church member in Virginia. They arrived in the U.S. with nothing but clothing and hope. Stephen was six years old then. He is grateful for those who helped him and his family.

His work-life experience shaped his strong belief in working hard, continuous learning, helping people, and maintaining a work-life balance. Stephen loves to read and learn about the financial markets; he is a self-taught Python programmer. When he is not working, Stephen enjoys tennis, golf, and traveling with families and friends. Stephen resides in Los Alamitos, California with his wife, Jing, and three daughters.
